In formulating the Master Plan for Brockbank Junior High School, FFKR Architects created a new focus and identity for the school. The plan places the new school on the east end of the property, separating it from the nearby elementary and high schools. The project encompassed developing the complete space requirements for the new school; coordinating parking, traffic access, and building code issues; and examining site utilities for the future. It also included designing a new science building.
The science building, the first phase of the Master Plan, is sited to be both easily accessible from the existing school and well integrated into the new school. Most of the building systems are planned to integrate with the future school, including the multimedia technology in classrooms. The new building alleviates some of the overcrowding issues in the existing school and provides generous, bright classrooms capable of supporting science and math curriculums.
