WASATCH CANYONS’ CAMPUS, SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
The project scope focused on Primary Children’s Medical Center relocation of the Pediatric Behavioral Health Residential Treatment Center (RTC) located in Research Park of the University of Utah campus to an existing building on their Wasatch Canyon’s Behavioral and Psychiatric Campus located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The move of the RTC program to Building C at the Wasatch Canyon’s Campus involved six main areas of focus. 1) refurbishing 23 patient rooms, with private bathrooms, to current codes and Intermountain Healthcare standards for this Behavioral Health pediatric population. 2) remodel and code modifications of remaining interior spaces for support functions such as nurses desks, group areas for patient activities, dining, exam/treatment room, and offices for physicians/staff. 3) space for three additional counseling offices realized with enclosure of southeast exterior patio. 4) remodeling of adjacent Building D to incorporate two in-patient/out-patient teaching classrooms along with associated faculty infrastructure. 5), increased frozen, cold, and dry food storage in kitchen facilities located in Building D which services the campus patient population. 6) to accommodate the full out-patient teaching and classroom program, requiring an additional classroom with appropriate offices, a one thousand square foot expansion was added, as an alternate design, to the east side of Building D for relocation of Environmental Services.
