BYU-IDAHO, REXBURG, IDAHO
FFKR designed the new John Taylor Religion and Humanities Building to reflect the spirituality and religious reverence deep-rooted in Brigham Young University-Idaho’s mission. The building houses the university’s religion and humanities departments as well as facilities for religious services and church social activities.
The 400-seat chapel opens to an adjoining multipurpose room to accommodate up to 2,000 people. The design allows natural light to flood the chapel – both religiously symbolic and significant in Rexburg’s harsh winter climate. A sun-lit student commons area functions as both a study space and social gathering spot, while two kitchens serve the needs of church groups, clubs and campus organizations. The building’s second level comprises faculty offices.
