The client of this restaurant had a very clear idea of what he wanted to accomplish: a world-class restaurant housed in a warehouse converted to complement the dining experience. FFKR worked closely with the client, chef, and staff to create a functional space with the right aesthetic balance. The original structural system for the warehouse was exposed and renovated while the street front was completely rebuilt in glass, aluminum, and concrete. The large front windows are on pivot hinges allowing the entire front to be opened to the street. The main level plan is divided into three zones: a bar and cafe, a formal dining area, and a display kitchen. Spaces were designed into the restaurant to display some of the Client’s art collection and additional pieces were commissioned. The interior finishes include a concrete floor with aluminum insets, red garnet granite counter tops, sycamore millwork, and a slated fir ceiling. Perfectly clear glass rods were used to infill the 3″ tie holes in the exterior concrete walls. The restaurant has proven to be enormously successful.
