Moreton Insurance came to FFKR to ask them to help redefine their company’s image within their office environment. After 16 years in their current location, Moreton was ready to move to a new building and reinvent the way their company employees interacted. Facing difficulties in attracting the younger generation, Moreton was eager to create a space that appealed to the incoming workforce without alienating their current top talent.
FFKR helped Moreton create a space that was modern enough for their youthful workers, but sophisticated enough for their more seasoned veterans. Former perimeter offices were moved to the center core of the building, but were given glass fronts to expand the occupants’ views to include the rest of the office. Workstation panel walls were lowered from standing height privacy to seated height privacy to encourage more collaboration and spontaneous meetings. After a study of their current offices, space within the new building was maximized by the realization of the need for a new room—a client presentation/training room. This training room included a moveable partition wall to open the space to the breakroom, doubling the size of the room to allow for an ‘all-hands-on-deck’ employee meeting or training program when needed.
Employing a color palette of clean whites, deep blues, tans, and golds, FFKR sought to utilize the layout of the office to incorporate the maximum use of the building’s exterior lighting in heightening the design and colors of the space. FFKR also used a two-toned approach to incorporate wood into the design, playing a deep chocolate walnut against a softer, natural cherry to add elegance and refinement. A tight budget was recognized from the beginning and the architectural design and finish package were balanced across the space to create maximum impact in key areas.
