PARK CITY, UTAH
The historic Marsac Building, home to the Park City municipal offices, underwent a major renovation for seismic, HVAC, electrical, and accessibility upgrades. The project consisted of a full seismic retrofit with the installation of six new concrete shear walls spanning all three floors and a new roof structure and deck. The entire mechanical and plumbing systems were replaced with a high-efficiency ground-coupled heat pump system and all new plumbing systems. All power, data and lighting systems were replaced and a data center for the city was built on the lower level. The new systems are highly efficient, bringing the building up to current electrical code standards.
The building was updated to comply with current ANSI accessibility guidelines, including the installation of two new stairways and an elevator serving its three floors. Ceilings were raised in all perimeter offices to enhance daylighting and re-expose the tall historic windows. All interior architecture and woodwork was designed to match original historic detailing.
