In the preliminary stages of the project, FFKR gathered and presented information to the Client on various delicate issues. Through this process we developed a scope of work for the project. We then collaborated with the various consultants and coordinated the work on a variety of areas which included overall seismic upgrade, replacement of the entire electrical and audio visual systems, overhaul of the entire mechanical system, bring the building up to standard code while maintaining the historic character, acoustical quality, and feel of the building. During the construction process, due to the limited space, we coordinated the location of all the utility systems before installation. The Salt Lake Tabernacle is used as a television and radio broadcast studio for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Any new building elements were given particular attention to match the historical character and design found throughout the building. The ultimate goal was to strengthen and fortify the building while still keeping the look of the original Tabernacle.
