The new University Health Care Midvalley Health Center provides an outpatient clinical presence for University Healthcare in a prominent building in a central Salt Lake valley location. The five-story 80,000 SF facility houses existing satellite practices of the Departments of Dermatology and Ophthalmology, and include space for the growth of those Departments. The facility is also planned to provide a new satellite presence for the University’s Internal Medicine practice. The overall plan of the facility will provide future flexibility to accommodate future evolution in the University’s clinical master plan.
A typical clinical floor of the facility includes three clinical pods, or Centers of Excellence, arranged around an open check-in and waiting area. The check-in and waiting areas are organized around an open atrium which unifies the facility, and provides dramatic views to the mountains to the south and east. The clinical floors are sized and planned to optimize the patient experience and maximum staffing efficiencies and ratios. Planning utilizes a back-stage hallway connecting all of the clinical pods to provide flexibility and facilitate staff movement.
