Kona Hawaii Temple

The Kona, Hawaii, Temple project is on the Island of Hawaii in Kailua-Kona. The existing building will undergo a major remodel. The building is constructed of CMU blocks, wood trusses, and steel columns. The current building is clad in stone. The revised building will partially salvage the existing roof structure (trusses), foundation walls, and steel columns. The rest of the building, including the tower, will be new construction, including insulated concrete form exterior walls, interior concrete shear walls, and a steelframed tower. The entire building will be re-clad in stone. The existing grounds building will be demolished and rebuilt with a mechanical yard as part of the project. The building will also be insulated with concrete on the exterior walls. The landscaping will be upgraded, with off-site stormwater management improvements.
