The new “center” consolidates a number of different programs and services offered by The Salvation Army into one campus building, including: Marian Pritchett School for Pregnant and Parenting Teens; Social Services; Food Pantry; after-school activity programs; administration of housing and clothing distribution services; and a church. The Salvation Army had all of these programs spread throughout the Boise area at four scattered locations. It is the most significant building project ever undertaken by The Salvation Army in its over 125-year history in the Boise area. The design of the 47,234-square-foot, two-story building is complex, with its spiritual and humble underpinnings, and it fulfills The Salvation Army’s motto: “Doing the Most Good.” The most prominent building corner is marked by a bright light that serves as a lantern, becoming a beacon to all who pass by. The Salvation Army’s spirituality is reinforced through back-lit crosses. Simple yet powerful materials and layout are used throughout the facility.
