Bunnell acquired a pair of nearly identical structures to house their medical manufacturing, customer service, research & development, and administrative departments. FFKR worked with Bunnell to develop a program and conceptual plans to find the optimal solution for gutting and connecting the two structures to create an interconnected, full manufacturing and service floor. This allowed for the most efficient flow of incoming/outgoing materials and customer devices at the ground level.
Upon completing this programming and conceptual planning phase, FFKR partnered with the CM/GC and ownership group to find the most cost-efficient solutions for every aspect of the project. This forced all parties to carefully flex their creativity to find efficiencies in programming, detailing, re-using existing building systems, and thoroughly vetted specifications to deliver a functional, flexible, and cost-efficient design. The Owner / Architect / CM/GC partnership that developed throughout the design phase was built on trust and clear communication and afforded confidence throughout the decision-making process that the project would meet the owner’s budgetary goals.
